Weight Loss is Among the Many Health Benefits of Red Wine
Should you stay away from the cellar if you want to achieve a healthy figure? There has long been a debate on how wine affects weight. Although some sources say that drinking red wine can lead to weight gain, we’ve uncovered many studies that prove otherwise. Besides helping you shed those hard-to-lose pounds, wine has also been found to provide many benefits to your health!
Will a Daily Glass of Wine Help You Lose Weight or Gain More?
We live in a culture where good body image is as valuable as a luxury car. That is why products that help people achieve the perfect figure are always among the most sellable. Some that are offered on the market do effectively help lose weight, while some are a pure sham.
People commonly argue whether wine promotes losing weight – or does it ruin a diet regimen? There are researchers that firmly believe that wine makes people fat. However, there is also increasing evidence that suggests that moderate consumption of red wine could help you stay fit.
Resveratrol – The Key Element in Wine That Helps You Stay Slim!
A study, conducted at Washington State University last July 2015, showed that there is a direct relationship between wine drinking and weight loss.
There are two kinds of cholesterol in our bodies. Low-Density Lipids (LDL) are the harmful types, while High-Density Lipids (HDL) are the good ones. A compound found in wine, called resveratrol, is found to help decrease the amount of bad cholesterol in your bloodstream while raising the levels of healthy lipids. A research paper presented recently at the European Conference on Obesity in Prague also confirms this finding.
Another experiment in 2012 revealed that the best time to consume wine is late at night. The conclusion of the study showed that a glass of wine curbed cravings for snacks after dinner.
Other Health Benefits of Moderate Wine Consumption
Knowing that wine helps reduce weight could peak your interest in wine collecting itself, and this could inspire you to have your own cellar built. But, besides weight loss, researchers have found that a daily glass of wine has many more health benefits!
1. Prevent Obesity
The latest statistical report from the National Institutes of Health shows that obesity is the second leading cause of preventable deaths in the US. There is an estimated number of 300,000 deaths annually that are caused by obesity.
A research study was conducted at Harvard University on 20,000 participants for over a decade. It was found that those who drank wine daily had a 70% reduced risk of becoming obese compared to those who abstained from wine.
If you have a number of bottles in your wine cellar at home, you might have found the solution to avoid the path to obesity!
2. Reduce Risks of Developing Heart Diseases
An experiment was conducted recently to find out the effects of moderate red wine consumption on people. There were over 200 respondents in this study, and they were grouped into three. One group had to drink a glass of red wine every night with dinner, another had to consume white wine, and the last group had mineral water. All of the participants of the research followed a Mediterranean-style diet, and they had no restrictions on their calorie intake.
The study was conducted for two years. At the end of the experiment, the researchers concluded that those who had a daily glass of red wine had a substantially reduced risk of developing cardiovascular diseases.
3. Helps Lower Blood Sugar
Wine has been found to be very helpful in glycemic control. A glass of wine every day has been shown to boost glucose metabolism.
Every time you eat, the sugars found in your food are broken down to produce energy, which will be used by your cells. Some people, like those diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, are incapable of breaking down these sugars.
Studies have shown that moderate consumption of red wine can lower your blood sugar level for up to 24 hours. The American Diabetes Association recommends checking your blood glucose before drinking and monitoring it up to 24 hours after you drink.
Find Satisfaction in Moderation!
All of these facts about the effects of wine on your health may encourage you to fill up your custom wine cellar with your favorite vintages. But, before you dive into daily wine drinking, you have to keep in mind that moderation is key to reaping health benefits. Too much alcohol can harm your body and cause a variety of illnesses.
A moderate amount is defined as 8oz or a glass of wine a day. You can keep as many bottles as you want in your wine storage room, but you shouldn’t consume more than the suggested measurement.
